The torço, or headwrap, is a powerful symbol in Afro-Bahian culture, representing heritage, identity, and spirituality. This portrait honors the women who carry that legacy with pride and poise.
Exquisite brushwork makes this a piece to behold, with a level of depth and poise akin to the subject. The colour contrast is striking, creating a bold, vibrant portrait of this gorgeous Bahian woman.
This piece has a slight defect. The piece was tightly bound during shipping, and part of the paint cracked. It has been repaired by glueing and hard-pressing the canvas to an extra piece of frame. Up close, this crack is slightly perceptible. From afar, it's completely imperceptible. This piece will be difficult to remove from the frame, due to the glue.
